Lie of Unworthiness in Comparison

"Comparison has an extreme side of making you feel like the short stick of all. “Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God,” – 2 Corinthians 3:5.

Comparison always makes you look like you’re unworthy or not good enough. It wants you to believe that you will always be the short stick. It discourages and disqualifies people so that they may give up on what God called them to. It makes them believe the lie that they will never be mature or that it’s too late to even keep on going. Don’t dig a pit for yourself to fall in or place a stumbling block in front of you. Here is the thing, no one is sufficient in themselves, nor is anyone worthy by themselves alone. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” – Romans 3:23-24.

The only reason we have been made righteous is through Christ. No comparison can be made for we all have fallen short and been redeemed by the same Jesus. “For in fact the body is not one member but many. If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body? And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body? If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling? But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased. And if they were all one member, where would the body be? But now indeed there are many members, yet one body.” – 1 Corinthians 12:14-20.

Some people will see the success and maturity of others and try to be like those people, not being themselves. God didn’t make you to be a one-on-one copy of someone else. He made you in such a unique image that you are a one-time creation. Don’t try to be someone else you’re not but rather accept the identity Christ gave you and be who you truly are in Christ. If the whole Body of Christ tried to be someone else or the same member, the Body wouldn’t be there. We each serve our own purpose in the body, and God has given us that specific purpose as He pleased. So overall, no one is better than one another because we have all fallen short, but thanks to Christ, we are renewed with a new identity in Him by faith. So, don’t think you’re unworthy or a lesser version of a member in the Body of Christ. God has unique plans and things for you in your life that no one else has. Don’t get discouraged when people are starting things and succeeding while you aren’t at the moment. This happens because you are at a different pace and place in your journey with God.
