Man's False Light

“Then Abram said, “Look, You have given me no offspring; indeed one born in my house is my heir!” And behold, the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir.” Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.” – Genesis 15:3-5.
In these few verses, God promised Abraham that he would have an heir that would have a lineage of many nations. To reveal this, God said to count the stars in the night sky. Back in those times, if you were to go and look at the night sky, you would see so many stars shining brightly, and you might even see the bands of the Milky Way. So, when God said to count the stars, you can only imagine just how vast and beautiful the sky must have been for Abraham when he looked at the sky. These days, if you were to go outside and look at the night sky, you would hardly see any stars, and they would be very dim, especially if you live in a city. Why is this so? It is caused by light pollution, which is artificial light from cities, cars, and all these lights within such areas. All this light accumulates, and you no longer can see the stars and such. Well, those stars were a symbol of God’s promises to Abraham. Therefore, artificial or in other words, man’s light, is what blinds the sky of God’s promises.
“And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.” – 2 Corinthians 11:14-15.
Because light ultimately pierces the darkness, darkness has to try to disguise itself as light to become effective. In fact, every source of light is backed with some source of power. The light of the sun is powered by nuclear fusion, the light bulb in your house is powered by electricity, and when the power source goes out, so does the light. Darkness is the lack of power. This is why the enemy, his servants, and even your flesh all try to counterfeit themselves as a false form of light. Does that mean this false form of light has power? No, because the enemy is still powerless and still trying to deceive us into being his tools since we have the power and authority through Christ. They are merely false and fake appearances of light appearing as good things when really, they are bad. Your flesh will do anything it can to justify itself, even though it is wrong and dark. The nature of the flesh has been striving to create a false form of light that isn’t God since the fall of man in Genesis. These are idols. In fact, idols are like the light pollution in the sky. They are a false form of light made by man. They don’t make the night sky any brighter but only hinder the light of the shining stars and heavenly hosts. See, man’s light only darkens the night sky, for a night sky without light pollution reveals the beauty of the galaxy and stars God has crafted before our very eyes. In the same way, idols and man’s attempt only darken our minds, masking God’s wonderfully put-together will, promises, and interests. So overall, there are many counterfeits and false forms of light that are trying to mask the true light. Don’t let your way hinder God’s way. The promise of all these descendants Abraham was going to have was going to be through Isaac, God’s way, rather than Ishmael, which was Abraham’s way. For context, Ishmael came from Abraham and the servant Hagar. God wanted these promises to be fulfilled through Sarah. However, because Abraham and Sarah both were very old, Sarah doubted God, which then led to them both losing hope. It was then when fear and worry crept in that they would be too old to have children, pressuring them into having a son through Hagar rather than waiting on God for Sarah to bear his heir.
