Unjustified Comparison

“For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.” – 2 Corinthians 10:12.
Comparison is an extremely dangerous road to take. We all have our own lanes, and you need to make sure you stay in your respective lane. Just because one lane is going faster doesn’t mean it is better than another lane. Each lane is going to a different destination at a different pace. How can you compare which of the two lanes is better if they are going to different destinations? It is easy to compare two lanes going to the exact same destination, but no two lanes are going to the exact same destination just as the Lord does not make an exact copy of a person with the exact same destiny. A lane has the purpose of being the pathway for someone to get to a destination. So, everyone has their own lane with the purpose of getting to a destination. As different people drive in their own lanes, they will minister to others in different ways and accomplish different things in their lives. Each person will go to their different destination or calling. No destination nor lane is better than another. Each lane has a different pace and a different destination all with different strengths and weaknesses. All the lanes are equally important because they each have the same goal of reaching their destination.
“And the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”; nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. And those members of the body which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow greater honor; and our unpresentable parts have greater modesty, but our presentable parts have no need. But God composed the body, having given greater honor to that part which lacks it, that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another.” – 1 Corinthians 12:21-25.
We are the Body of Christ, and each piece of the body has a different purpose. A hand is just as important as a foot, but they accomplish different things. Some muscles are stronger than others, but they accomplish different things; therefore, they are equally as important. Some muscles are also stronger than others because what they need to accomplish requires that strength. Some muscles aren’t as strong or big as others, but they are tinier and do more precise actions than others. You will be given what you need to accomplish what you are called to. That is why your strengths and weaknesses do not make you better or worse than anyone else because God made us in such a way that there cannot be justified comparison between us. Rather, our pride introduces a fleshly, arrogant, and unjustified comparison between each piece in the Body of Christ. So overall, comparison is futile and pointless. Why waste your precious time comparing yourself to someone else? God has designed each of us to be so unique and different, but all serving a common purpose for the Body of Christ. He has made our destinies and callings so different in their respective ways, but equally important. He has set us on different and varying journeys which have different destinations. Yet, they are all equally as important to the Body of Christ.
