Unto the Lord

“All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify. Let no one seek his own, but each one the other’s well-being… (31) Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” – 1 Corinthians 10:23-24 & 31.

We have been given a freedom through Christ so that we may be able to serve unto the Lord even when doing the rough things, even if we are serving unbelievers and people who don’t believe in Christ.

“For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: ‘You shall love you neighbor as yourself.’” – Galatians 5:13-14.

This freedom and grace should not be used to please and indulge the flesh, but rather be used to serve the living God. Once, the law was in effect, but through Christ, we now live by one law, the law of love. This is our law for through love is the fulfillment of the law because love is being obedient to all those commandments. Since we live by this law of love, go and serve with the law of love written on your hearts not through words but through actions.

“With goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men.” – Ephesians 6:7.

You serve as you serve the Lord. If you aren’t serving for the Lord, then who are you serving unto? Are you serving unto your pride? Are you serving unto pressure that you feel like you have to? Are you serving to be seen by man? Ask yourself who do you serve. For those who serve unto the Lord will be the only ones who have the right heart position. When Joseph was bound to slavery in Egypt and thrown in prison, the only choice he had was his attitude and perspective. He didn’t have to serve unto the Lord, but he did rather than complaining and grumbling. That is why the Lord showed him great favor and made his hand prosper. Serving the Lord will cause you to revere and honor God.

“Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another.” – Romans 12:10.

When you truly honor and respect the things God has given you to steward, you are going to value the service you offer. You want to make sure you do it right and properly because you have respect.

“And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.” – Matthew 25:40.

When you serve, how you treat and serve others is how you serve God. This is because what you do to the Body of Christ is done to Jesus Himself. If you can’t serve others with the right heart, then you don’t serve God with the right heart either. Saul persecuted God’s people, but Jesus said that Saul persecuted Him as well. This principle is the same in the manner of serving and whatever we do to God’s people. Why is it like this? Because Jesus is a part of the same plant, body, and family that we are in. Therefore, treat people with a kind heart and full of love for that is also how you will treat God. So overall, whatever you do, do it for the Lord and unto Him. Serve and work as if it is for God because that will allow you to respect and honor whatever you are doing and whoever you are serving on a whole greater measure.
